Center for Companies That Care (CTC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to dramatically increasing college graduation rates among under-resourced Chicago youth.
AIM High, Center for Companies That Care’s signature college and career access program, serves low-income, minority, 1st Generation youth and/or disabled youth who have invisible differences to ensure they successfully complete college and are prepared for tomorrow’s workforce. AIM High is a long-term, structured, holistic, multi-faceted, mentoring program dedicated to serving high school and college students’ social, emotional, and academic needs. Intellectually-typical students who have learning disabilities, neurobehavioral disorders or mental health disorders also participate in the Invisible Differences program.

Job Responsibilities
- Delivering college-bound and college-going curriculum to AIM High and Invisible Differences students
- Building and managing trusting relationships among students, mentors, school administration and teachers.
- Developing and implementing mentor, student, and parent training.
- High-touch mentoring individual students.
- Facilitating weekly Leadership Institute, classroom instruction, at partnering high schools.
- Planning monthly Touchpoint Events for students, mentors, and families.
- Developing curriculum
- Serving students with empathy, kindness and wisdom
- Motivating students to stay in school
- Responding to student emergencies
- Evaluation and tracking leading to program improvements
- Documenting services for each student
- Data management
- Reporting outcomes annually
Essential Skills and Requirements
- Knowledge and interest in educational matters, business matters and program management
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize effectively.
- Very flexible and easily able to adapt to changing priorities
- Excellent interpersonal and persuasive skills (verbal and written).
- Efficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint is a must. Knowledge of database management (e.g, Salesforce, Mailchimp) is preferred.
- Must be able to travel to locations within a 60-mile radius of the work site with insured automobile; valid driver’s license required
- Strong work ethic and drive to succeed, with ability to excel in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Demeanor is high energy, personable and enjoys talking to people
- Ability to work in a team environment and sustain positive relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including corporate staff, board members, nonprofit staff, government officials, community representatives, and people who have special needs and/or are from low-income households.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a highly preferred skill
- Must pass a background check
- COVID-19 vaccination and booster will be required
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required

Job Responsibilities (20-25 hrs/week, mainly weekdays)
- Supporting Executive Director and executing ED’s administrative responsibilities
- Overseeing general office operations, including technology, office, insurance, HR, and policies.
- Relationship-building and world-class service delivery to program participants, donors and partners
- Overseeing budgets, accounts payable/receivables, annual audit and financial reporting
- Supervise bookkeeper and lead recruitment efforts for other staff
- Assist with compliance with public sector grants
- Assist with Corporate and Donor Communication and Marketing, and play a leadership role in planning fundraising events and developing and maintaining content for website.
- Relationship building with donors and partners.
- Responsible for all data management and reporting
- Occasional evening and weekend work is required to provide in-person support to events
Essential Skills and Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products and databases, preferably Salesforce and Mailchimp

Career Awareness Internship
Our goal as an internship, was to introduce participants to an assortment of professions, inspire a career interest, and build an understanding of the educational path to Career Awareness Internship specific careers. Develop professional skills while leading the program. An interactive, virtual workforce development program. Interns are divided into four teams (Logistics and Finance, Human Resources, Marketing and Sales, and Continuous Learning) and, under the guidance of Companies That Care staff, execute the program and simultaneously learn professional skills and career options as a participant. Each day interns participate in large group meetings, team meetings, and independent work projects. Each team fulfilled a duty to help orchestrate a graduation for our AIM High Students that are of collegiate level and high school.
Human Resources
Our Human Resources team is geared to help our program run smoothly to make sure that other groups are meeting the accommodations. We keep track of attendance, daily updates on the well being of everyone’s health, stipend management,document prizes, creation of awards and initiate the wrap around support for all.

Continuous Learning
Our Continuous Learning team leads our group meetings, plans, and educates the group on the newest updates in the media, as in college life and the coronavirus. They are resourceful to our group by researching and designing new ways for us to interact with each other. The team gets everyone engaged to want to learn more about the research they have found, along with different speakers for us to connect with.
- Develop and deliver curriculum for 3 Group Meetings per week (4.5 hours) Topics include: COVID-19 updates, Career Awareness, and Professional Skills.
- Recruit employers to speak about their organizations, give a virtual tour, and describe various career paths
- Monitor COVID-19 updates with particular attention to impact on communities of color. Provide a daily update about progression of the disease, how to avoid getting sick, community resources and what to do if someone is sick.
- Recruit speakers to teach professional skills. Utilize internet resources. Provide activities to practice skills. Topics cover: Communication skills; Time management; Microsoft Office; Team building; Resumes and Interviewing; Effective group processes
- Use professional skills to reach out to speakers and follow up after the meeting
- Ensure presentations are interesting by employing a variety of presentation method
Marketing and Sales
Our Marketing and Sales team is a two for one. On the marketing scale, the team creates relevant, fun content to promote AIM High. As a whole we are in charge of sales pitches , graphics,etc. On the sales scale, the responsi bilities are not only to get motivational prizes donated, gain potential futuristic sponsors for the program but to also fund raise for the program.

Logistics and Finance
Our Logistics and Finance team is good with planning, project management, analyzing financial data reports, as well as paying attention to detail. This hardworking team is in charge of keeping track of our internship budgets, stipends, fundraising income, and storage for our internship prizes!
