AIM High Alum Is Named Pickering Fellow
Congratulations to AIM High alum Shaiesha Moore! Shai has been awarded the coveted Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation’s Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship. This prestigious fellowship is designed to attract outstanding individuals from all ethnic, racial and social backgrounds who have an interest in pursuing a foreign service career with the U.S. Department of State. Shai will receive $40,000 to pay for her tuition and expenses in her senior year of undergraduate studies and in her first year of graduate studies. Currently a junior at Georgetown University, Shai has an impressive trail of academic accomplishments behind her already, among them, the Gates Millennium Scholarship. Shai’s academic excellence is rivaled only by her excellence in community service. Inspired by the DREAM Act, she founded the Georgetown University Immigration Coalition. As a high school student, she volunteered at the Chicago Food Depository, served the homeless through her church, and tutored CPS students in reading and math. Shai has consistently received recognition for that rare form of leadership that comes through service and a commitment to her fellow citizens.
